A good mommy tip
Being a new mom can be hard. Even if your new baby is relaxed and relatively easy going... I heard a great tip on the tv, and I adapted it slightly to suit my needs. It helps stop your newborn from crying. Now it doesn't work all the time, but its really useful... When your child is having a major crying session, it can be really hard on your nerves (especially as your are tired and weary yourself). Here is what I did with my daughter. I got a large(ish) blanket and folded it over and made it into a triangle. I layed her on it, with her head just under where the blanket was folded in half. Gently take one side of the blanket, and tuck it around your child (right to left/left to right), and do the same with the other. Eventually your child will look like a burrito, with his or her head sticking out of the top. Then hold him/her up to you, and shush in his/her ear, my take on it is to sing a song, something calming, I personally found the song worked better. But you have to make it loud enough for him/her to hear, and within a few minutes they SHOULD stop crying. It won't work all the time, but it should work a lot of the time. I thinks this is called swaddle and soothe, and I personally found it an invaluable tip. |
